Biography
Samantha Moon, born Tracy Samantha Johnson on October 17, in Trafalgar, Dominica, is a versatile singer-songwriter and passionate entertainer. Immersed in a musical environment from a young age, she was influenced by her family's involvement in music—her mother being a music enthusiast and her father a drummer. This early exposure shaped her artistic journey, leading her to explore various genres, including R&B, Soca, Zouk, Reggae, Neo-Soul, and Pop.
In 2010, Samantha began her professional career as the lead vocalist for Natral Vybz International, one of Dominica's most renowned bands. After honing her performance skills and stage presence, she embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut EP, *Wake Up Now*, in August 2018. Her music is characterized by smooth vocals and thoughtful lyrics, aiming to motivate, inspire, and spread love and joy to her listeners.
Samantha's musical influences include Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Anita Baker, and Regina Belle, which have contributed to her unique sound that blends Neo-Soul and R&B. Her single "I Love You," released in 2020, showcases her vulnerability and emotional depth, inspired by personal experiences, including her sister's battle with cancer.
Samantha has had the honor of working with legendary Grammy-winning engineer Glen Kolotkin, who has recorded her in Florida. Glen Kolotkin is celebrated for his work with iconic artists, including his Grammy-winning contributions to Carlos Santana's *Supernatural* album. Samantha and Glen collaborated on her rendition of "Time and Love," a timeless song written by Laura Nyro and famously covered by Barbra Streisand. This collaboration allowed Samantha to infuse her unique artistry into the classic, further solidifying her place as a gifted interpreter of music.
Throughout her career, Samantha has performed at various notable venues and events, such as the Pablo Center for the Confluence in Wisconsin, Minnesota Music Cafe, Bayfront World Reggae Music Festival, and has opened for the legendary Wyclef Jean. Currently based in Minnesota, she continues to create music that resonates with audiences worldwide, aiming to connect with listeners through relatable storytelling and emotive performances.
